About Us

Our Story

Founded in 2023, Artemis Defense Technologies brings together a seasoned team of experts with deep cross-disciplinary experience, particularly in Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) alongside an array of pioneering innovations across the fields of Radio Frequency (RF) systems, Free Space Optics (FSO), laser communications, satellite navigation, and threat detection sensors.

In numerous instances, Artemis personnel stepped in where larger corporations and academic institutions had failed to deliver on critical government programs. Not only did our team succeed in meeting those complex requirements, but they also played pivotal roles in the deployment, operational integration, and commercialisation of these technologies, improving efficiency while reducing cost and time to delivery.

With over 100 years of combined experience, the Artemis team has tackled persistent UAV industry challenges, including limited endurance, payload constraints, and aerodynamic inefficiencies. Our engineers have designed and produced a wide spectrum of uncrewed platforms – from compact multirotors to large fixed-wing VTOL systems – serving clients across defense, security, industrial, and humanitarian sectors worldwide. Our ability to deliver high-performance systems at a fraction of the cost of conventional suppliers positions Artemis as a true value leader in the field.

We have also built a network of strategic partnerships and technology alliances that provide access to cutting-edge innovations and enable rapid scaling of production. Our team has made significant strides in uncrewed autonomous technologies, receiving recognition from government primes and other authoritative entities.

As demand grows for both attritable and high-end autonomous platforms, Artemis is uniquely equipped with the technical depth, agility, and proven execution record to meet emerging challenges and shape the future of defense technology.

Our Difference

What sets Artemis apart is the experience of our team members and our wholehearted commitment to an agile, modular design philosophy. This strategic approach enables Artemis systems to not only seamlessly accommodate both legacy and future technologies but also positions our solutions at the vanguard of innovation, ensuring they remain relevant, cutting-edge, and adaptable.

As a result, we not only minimize obsolescence but also offers an exceptional value proposition to defense agencies and position ourselves as a critical strategic partner to many ‘Governments Prime’ defense contractors.

The ability and reach of our network enable us to leverage expertise across various programs and partnerships to accelerate timelines.

We believe our combination of engineering prowess, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to delivering value and rapid capability positions us for success in the defense technology sector.

Leadership

We have assembled a collection of some of the brightest minds from a range of backgrounds, covering Technology Development, Operations, and Sales and Marketing.

Our team has a deep collective knowledge of the UAV industry, having undertook projects from rapid prototyping to custom large fixed-wing builds.

Carl is a high-profile innovator and entrepreneur. In recent years he has become a respected thought-leader in Counter Terror technology development, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). Carl incorporated one of the earliest adoptions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) into detection and uncrewed technologies.

Carl fosters rapid product development and deployment, building teams and delivering the products required to industry and defense in months, not years. This experience includes taking over failing national security technology scopes in to deliver the requirement.

Carl has an extensive background assisting tech-business transformation and significant success in telecommunications technology which includes the first wireless internet network through to managing ground to space laser communications. Carl has a depth of experience of taking startups out of incubation and taking them through to IPO. Carl has held several C-level roles in Private and Public companies.

Paul is a highly focused, experienced manufacturing professional that has worked on several innovations where size weight and cost needed to be reimagined to achieve commercial success.

In a prior role Paul served as the VP Operations at Radio physics Solutions. Prior to that he served as a Production Manager assisting TomTom SATNAV to redesign and deliver significant cost savings by moving to LCD and single board processing and GPS capabilities.

In his most recent role, Paul worked for Plymouth Rock Technologies, managing the company’s UK Aerospace facility, where he championed a continuous improvement program performing development and commercialization of our UAS technologies and ensured ISO 9001 compliance and JARUS standards were implemented on UAS builds.

Professor Harmer read Physics with Astrophysics at Sussex University, graduating in 1996, where he subsequently was awarded his DPhil in 2000. After working as a Research Fellow at Sussex University, from 2000-2005, Professor Harmer moved to Queen Mary University of London and undertook research funded by the EPSRC’s Gun Crime Initiative: “Taking the Heat of the Streets.” Stuart then spent two years in industry, working in the Future Systems group for SELEX ES, where he led on identifying relevant research and spinouts, visiting research groups in Europe, the US and Australia.

Since this time Professor Harmer has published some sixty journal and conference proceedings; co-authored a book and was elected Fellow of the Institute of Physics in 2013. Stuart is currently the Dean of Technology, Business and Arts at the University of Suffolk, and the technology lead for the Digitech Centre at BT’s (British Telecom’s) Adastral Park.

Maxine has over 25 years Global experience within the Marketing and Event industry, working both Client and Agency side, running marketing campaigns, as well as managing events and exhibitions globally.

Specializing in Technology, Security, Retail & Leisure, Industries, Maxine has a diverse client portfolio including Nano Dimensions, Apple, Verizon, HP, Honeywell, Panasonic, and Cisco.

With a diverse background across multiple industries and technologies, Daniel has extensive international experience in novel detection technologies and uncrewed systems.
